Here’s an update on several Jaeger Sports students around baseball…
Barry Zito was superb in shutting down the Mets this week with 8 scoreless innings.
Chris Seddon of the Seattle Mariners earned his first career win yesterday against the Red Sox. Chris’s move to the big leagues was recently profiled in this great article in the Tacoma Weekly.
Dan Haren is back home in Southern California as an Angel.
A’s first baseman Daric Barton drove in two runs today as Oakland beat the White Sox.
Jason Kubel hit a grand slam today to “spark the Twins” in their over Baltimore.
In the minors, Kansas City prospect Mike Montgomery pitched two scoreless innings in his first start for the Surprise Royals.
Jeff Kobernus of the Hagerstown Tourists (Washington’s AA) hit his first home run of the season this week, a grand slam.

Here’s a look at how several Jaeger Sports students are doing in the Minor Leagues so far this season…

Jason Hirsh (Scranton Wilkes-Barre, Yankees’ AAA) took a no hitter into the 7th inning on Wednesday night to earn the win against the Louisville Bats (Reds’ AAA).
Brewers prospect Mark Rogers has “experienced no problems since jumping levels to AA Huntsville” according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Brewer Farm Report.
Scott Beerer, a former All-American pitcher at Texas A&M who appeared in 89 games mostly as a reliever, has reinvented himself as a hitting Rockies’ OF prospect. His 2009 numbers: .385/.443/.594 Minorleaguebaseball.com has a great article on his transition from the mound to the outfield. Click the picture to read it.

James Darnell, the Padres’ top prospect according to scout.com, had another homer last week to help his team the San Antonio Missions (AA) beat the Midland RockHounds (A’s AA).
Jeff Kobernus has five multi-hit games so far this season for the Hagerstown Suns (Nationals’ A). And Jeff, Washington’s 2nd-round selection in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, has yet to commit an error at second base.
Congratulations to Michael Montgomery, who was recently promoted to the Royals’ AA affiliate the North Arkansas Naturals. Unfortunately, his first start in AA was rained out in the second inning, with his team leading 2-0. Look for Michael to make his official AA debut this week. You can follow along online.
